I thought these were pretty luke-warm topics at worst, but apparently its hotter than I realized.

I was hoping to be here under better circumstances but there are some real issues in our game with this last patch I feel the need to address on behalf of the pro racers community. That aside it’s fun to jump in and play around as load times between areas remain quick.Hi riders subreddit! I'm new around here, hope people recognize me from around the ridge 🙂 friendly neighborhood Persister here.

On the other hand, I am not a fan of locking cosmetics/the slow grind so I cannot recommend buying it at full price. Overall I’d say this game is a step in the right direction if you enjoyed the idea of steep but wish it had more variety of scenery/sports. Gameplay wise it’s pretty much the same as steep in terms of doing events to unlock currency/items and more events.

The environment/world feels a lot more detailed/crafted steep. Cosmetic grind aside, I do think it’s a step up from steep mainly in terms of environment mix outside of snow and constant mix of live players/ghosts to fill the world. Fortunately the controller disconnect and getting stuck in objects bugs have cleared up a bit. I was a bit hesitant at first as Ubi seems to have locked a bunch of cosmetics between micro transactions/season passes and the beta was a bit buggy. I bought the base game yesterday on sale (35%) off after being on the fence for a while. I never play any games in that mode, but with this one the sense of speed and acceleration is extremely well done. Think the world still looks pretty good, the racing aspect is super fun. But after I finished up, I would have to settle around a 7 - 7.5.

I would say 15 hours into this game it was between a 8 - 8.5 out of ten for me. The potential of the game is pretty high, but the replay ability of the game is not. There is also zero incentive to playing any custom map as you don't get anything for it The race creation aspect is pointless since you can't do multiplayer events of people's created maps, so it's just another boring race some player made that you have to do by yourself If they're going to have collisions, make it consistent

You could be surrounded by 20 other players and barely be nudged any direction, but one random player not even close to you makes a sharp turn and somehow you get knocked completely off track. I don't have an issue with being knocked about, it's the fact that there's no rhyme or reason to when it happens. Mass Races ended up being a rotation of like two or three Playlists, which is stupid when you consider there's like hundreds of races across the map that could be used but they instead would settle on replaying the same events over and overĬollision in every race is incredibly janky. It takes forever to queue up and do races/ trick events My biggest issues when I stopped playing over a month ago were the laziness of the multiplayer aspect: It was fun for the first week or so, but once you realize there's no real depth there outside of doing the same races it starts to get tired real quick. But I wouldn't recommend it at full price by any means. Seems like a really weird oversight.Įdit: Realized I only listed my problems here but I should say my friend and I have had hours of good fun zooming around, crashing, going too fast, etc. It's fun playing with a friend but kinda janky, and you can only do versus races or the huge mass ones, not do the regular ones against ghosts and such. I turned off the music and voices first thing because the writing was so atrocious. Then there are so many interstitial screens after you finish! Let me restart or go on to the next one, my god.Ĭosmetics are a total dumpster fire - a tiny handful available at any given time and extremely expensive so almost everyone you meet is wearing the default outfits. Some of the races are fun but for many of them it tends to fall into the "make one mistake and you won't get that star" territory so it can be very frustrating. But the whole time I'm thinking, "damn, what else could they do with this terrain instead of have me just fly by it?"
